It’s a fun spin on classic tiramisu that’s perfect for summer and enjoying fresh berries!   What Is Tiramisu? Tiramisu is a classic Italian no-bake dessert. It’s made with Ladyfinger cookies that are dipped in a mixture of espresso and liqueur, then layered with mascarpone cream and topped with grated chocolate or cocoa powder. The word “Tiramisu” means “carry me up” or “pick me up,” which is a reference to the caffeinated shot of espresso in the dessert.

What’s Different About This Berry Tiramisu? Similar to my strawberry champagne tiramisu, this berry tiramisu plays off of the original, but with a fruity twist.Instead of espresso and liqueur for the ladyfingers, it uses fresh berry juices and amaretto, which adds a very slight almond flavor and brings out the flavor of the berries. It’s also got an added layer of berries.

This berry tiramisu also uses the original tiramisu mascarpone cream made with eggs yolks, as opposed to some other versions that basically use mascarpone whipped cream.I did a side-by-side test of both ways and found the version with egg yolks to have more flavor and a better texture.Totally worth the extra time for such a tasty treat.
